When I started this journey, I wanted to change in Maple Valley, I wanted better representation for our community. Now that filing week is complete, I noticed that I am running against Linda Olsen. I know Linda as we have run in some of the same circles. Linda and I are not that different, our beliefs mostly line up. If you have ever spoken to me you will know that I want a more diverse government and a government that resembles our community, as I believe it is better for the people the government represents. Since Linda and I have the same general beliefs and our platforms would be aligned there is no reason to go against my desire of pushing for more civic engagement and more diverse candidates running for office. If I did go against what I truly stand for how would I ever be able to advocate for that again? If Linda was not someone I believed in and who could take on the challenge to lead us in the right direction there would be a different conversation going on. I trust Linda to be a driving force on our City Council to help Maple Valley move forward.
In addition to wanting to see a more diverse government that represents us, there is a lot going on right now in my family’s life and my job, so time is a valuable commodity. I have submitted my paperwork to withdraw my name from the ballot to allow Linda whom I support to move forward on the ballot. However, I am not going anywhere, I will remain engaged in Maple Valley politics and the community. If you have any questions or concerns please get in touch with me and we can work out any questions or concerns.
